NASA uses a design method called “Evolutionary Design” in which a computer software generates different designs that “humans wouldn’t be able to come up with,” Loss said. The Global Grid Exchange is trying to make Evolutionary Design applicable for use on the grid to develop concepts. NASA can use a thousand or more computers at one time instead of using a cluster computer.
